Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab faced intense backlash at the Gul Plaza fire site, with protesters chanting "Mayor Karachi Na-Manzoor!" (Mayor Karachi, Not Acceptable!) and "Mayor Karachi Haye Haye!" (Shame on Mayor Karachi!). The mayor visited the site nearly 23 hours after the fire broke out on Saturday night around 10:45 pm, sparking outrage among affected businessmen and families of victims. The fire, suspected to be caused by a short circuit, killed at least six people, including a firefighter, and injured over 22 others. Thirty-eight people are still missing, with rescue operations ongoing. Protesters, comprising affected businessmen and families of victims, demanded accountability and better disaster management.
