Flooded DTM & GT Masters Test at Hockenheimring 2024 I Crashes, Spins, Scary Moments

Before the big final showdown of the DTM in one week (18 - 20 October) in Hockenheim, a few teams have completed their final preparations for the last event in 2024. The three test days (Tuesday to Thursday this week) saw varying weather conditions. The Swiss team Emil Frey Racing was not represented in Hockenheim, nor was Paul Motorsport with its Lamborghini. HRT-Mercedes and Manthey-Porsche were there, but did not test with their DTM drivers. Schubert BMW cancelled the test immediately after the last event in Spielberg, because in Hockenheim not a single one of the three title candidates and former DTM champions Rene Rast, Sheldon van der Linde and Marco Wittmann had at least a theoretical chance of winning the title. Winward-Mercedes exeeded the maximum test quota of 5. However, the German-American team took part in the two sprint races of the SRO series in July in Hockenheim and was able to collect the necessary data. The two factory-supported Lamborghini teams GRT (Grasser) and SSR, which were only present at the Baden Motodrom on Tuesday, had to contend with inconsistent heavy rain all day and did not drive a single lap on smooth slicks.
