Journey Into A Beatrice Potter Painting at This Charming Petting Zoo

This charming petting zoo in New Plymouth New Zealand is wonderful to take the children or grandchildren to. I'm especially fond of the donkeys with their velvety soft muzzles. It feels like walking into a Beatrice Potter painting, with rabbits and ducks and chickens running around everywhere. I think Beatrice should have written a story about a bearded goat,(tell me if she did) as the one at Pouakai Zoo is an absolute star and a big character. The ostriches are also amazing but you do have to watch your cup of feeding pellets as they will snatch the cup right out of your hand if you don't keep well away from the fence, LOL. One of the highlights of the zoo is the lions. I think there's four or five. They look very majestic surveying everyone with kingly pride. There are aquariums, aviaries and monkeys, alpacas and a bush walk as well. We really enjoyed our visit there.
