CHAOS erupts in Brighton as immigration march, counter-protest and police FIGHT

Eight people were arrested as Brighton witnessed a tense stand-off between an anti-immigration march and a much larger counter-protest. Sussex Police said around 300 joined the Stop The Boats rally on Saturday, while an estimated 4,000 turned out for a counter-protest organised by Carnival Against Fascism. The anti-immigration event, led by South East Patriots, urged the Government to deport “illegal immigrants” and tighten border controls. Ahead of the demonstrations, Brighton & Hove City leader Bella Sankey appealed for calm, insisting “far right agitators” had no place in the city.
