Description

Our heliosphere, the bubble created by our Sun, is like our “house” in space: its walls protect us from the weather outside. But every now and then, it springs a leak — and a few particles from interstellar space make it all the way to Earth and leave traces for us to find! 🌳 Studying these “leaks” tells us about how our heliosphere has changed over millennia, revealing surprising long-term changes in our Sun. Launching as early as Sept. 23, NASA’s Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe will help us understand our heliosphere like never before. This reel is the second of a three-part series that explores how we learn about our heliosphere, how it protects us, and how it advances the search for life elsewhere in the universe.
