Description

*originally recorded on 2-28-26* Signal on the left: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights. Signal on the right: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, a RECO LED gate light, and RECO gate lights. After catching 286 in Town Creek, I continued on west out to the Shoals to wait for 320 to leave. While waiting at the west end of Sheffield Yard, I heard an eastbound approaching, so I decided to hop over to this crossing in Muscle Shoals to get it. I wanted to beat it to Atlanta Avenue in Sheffield, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get there in time. Thankfully, I beat them here and was able to catch my third train of the day: NS A87 returning back to Sheffield Yard with a trio of SD40-2s for power, running lite. Since I last filmed this crossing, NS replaced the middle gate light on the closer signal with a RECO LED gate light. It appears the tip gate light on this arm has also gone, so I suspect another RECO LED or an NEG LED will be going-up here before too long. Nothing else has changed to this early-2000s NS install since I last filmed this crossing back in 2023, however. https://www.rxrsignals.com/Alabama/G-Q/Muscle_Shoals/6/ If you like my videos, feel free to leave me a tip on Ko-Fi!
