WICL - OSU Garden Future Project: Public/Private Collaboration to meet Climate Challenges

"Many of us see firsthand the impact of extreme weather events and climate change in our landscapes and gardens. Gardeners are wondering how to care for stressed plants and what to expect next. To help Oregon’s gardeners, the OSU Master Gardener Program has launched a new statewide climate resilience education and outreach project called Garden Future. Communication research shows that it’s through one-on-one conversations between neighbors and community members that real dialogue and understanding can occur about our shifting climate. Discover the gardening resources available to support you and your community in creating resilient gardens. Brooke Edmunds is an Associate Professor (Practice) in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University and the OSU Extension Community Horticulturist in Marion and Polk counties. She oversees the Master Gardener volunteer programs in each county, teaches online and in-person gardening classes, and answers hundreds of gardening questions each year. Brooke's background is in plant pathology and horticulture. She has a Ph.D. in plant pathology from North Carolina State University and her M.S. and B.S. from Iowa State University. She lives in Salem and greatly enjoys gardening in her edible front yard. She is a co-lead on the Garden Future project."
