Description
I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how to talk about this without the risk of starting a discussion, but I feel like this is something I want to speak up about. the last thing I want is to invite comparison!
I’ve had a positive recovery process so far post labor. I didn’t know what to expect after my second pregnancy. but what I do know is that even my own two pregnancies were different, as everyone else’s. I’ve been training for 17 years, working out hard in the gym before, during and after pregnancy. that plays a HUGE role here and something we need to consider! in the same way as it’s absolutely okay to share a tough and hard postpartum journey, in the same way it’s okey to share a good one. but unfortunately it doesn’t feel like that.. it often gets reduced to “luck” or “genetics”. genetics plays a part yes, but it’s far from everything there is..
so many women are afraid to even get pregnant because they worry about the so called “bounce back”. (why do we even call it that to begin with?!?). all bodies are different! and I would like to point out that I’m not talking about stretch marks here, that’s something no one can control. I’m only talking about the body’s physical way of recovering and healing.
I would never want to minimise a woman’s post pregnancy journey no matter how it looks, and I would never welcome comparisons. we all struggle with different things. I’m not here for a “quick bounce back” but I am grateful and proud over my body! I’m here for my long term growth and my way back to my routines.
I hope to encourage women, mamas, to keep caring for themselves and trust that, even after pregnancy, it’s possible over time to return to what feels right for them ❤️
