This 2018 Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 is Special - Kari Mäkelä Onboard at Mugello - Superb Sound!

In this video, I'm pleased to present a very special car: the Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3, chassis 040, a former works car for R-Motorsport St. Gallen, with a truly remarkable history. I must thank the current owner and driver, Finnish driver Kari Mäkelä, founder of Mäkelä Auto-Tuning Oy (Ltd), for his kindness, for allowing us to install an action camera in the cockpit, and for showing me so much of the car's historical material. We're at the Mugello circuit, where the car competed in the 2024 Masters Endurance Legends category. This Vantage V12 GT3 competed in every race of the 2018 Blancpain Series championship, won the Silverstone 500, the main event of the British GT Championship, and took pole position at the Spa 24 Hours, among other notable results. But surely many of you will remember that this Aston Martin lost its victory at the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hours with just eight minutes to go. What's remarkable is that at the end of the race, the last one, the car's bodywork was signed by the team members present. After the signatures, the vehicle was left untouched, and all the dirt from the 12-hour race is still imprinted on its surface. A clear coat was applied to seal everything. Aston Martin later sold the car, with the request that the aesthetics not be touched, a request that the current owner respected. To honour its racing career, the Aston Vantage V12 GT3, chassis 040, participated in the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mechanically, it is powered by a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine that develops approximately 600 hp (depending on GT3 regulations) and 700 Nm of torque. A 6-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox powers the rear wheels, and the car weighs less than 1,300 kg (depending on the BoP). The body is made of carbon fibre panels, while the chassis is aluminium. Devo ringraziare l'attuale proprietario e pilota, il finlandese Kari Mäkelä, fondatore di Mäkelä Auto-Tuning Oy (Ltd), per la gentilezza nei nostri confronti, per averci permesso di installare un'action camera nell'abitacolo e per avermi mostrato tanto materiale storico della vettura. Ci troviamo sul circuito del Mugello dove l'auto ha gareggiato nel 2024 nella categoria Masters Endurance Legends. Questa Vantage V12 GT3 ha preso parte a tutte le gare del campionato Blancpain Series 2018, ha vinto la Silverstone 500, l'evento principale del Campionato British GT, e ha ottenuto la pole position alla 24 Ore di Spa, oltre ad altri risultati importanti. Ma certamente molti di voi si ricorderanno che questa Aston ha perso la vittoria alla 12 ore di Bathurst del 2019 a soli 8 minuti dalla fine. La cosa particolare è che al termine della gara, l'ultima che disputò, la carrozzeria fu firmata dai membri del team presenti. Dopo le firme, l'auto non fu più toccata ed è ancora presente tutto lo sporco della gara di 12 ore impresso sulla superficie. Venne applicata una vernice trasparente per fissare tutto. L'Aston Martin successivamente vendette la vettura, con la richiesta di non toccare l'estetica dell'auto, richiesta che l'attuale proprietario ha rispettato. Per rendere omaggio alla carriera sportiva, l'Aston Vantage V12 GT3, telaio 040, ha partecipato al Goodwood Festival of Speed del 2019. Meccanicamente, monta un motore V12 aspirato da 6,0 litri che sviluppa circa 600 CV (a seconda del regolamento GT3) e 700 Nm di coppia. A muoverlo ci pensa un cambio sequenziale Xtrac a 6 rapporti; la trazione è posteriore ed il peso è inferiore a 1300 kg (a seconda del BoP). La carrozzeria è composta da pannelli in fibra di carbonio, mentre il telaio è in alluminio.
