This device imitates a wireless carrier cell tower in order to force all nearby cellular devices to connect to it. They’re capable of sending 1,000 to 100,000 SMS phishing messages per hour, and are hunting for one thing – your personal data. 0:56 - Note, the image shown here is for older model androids. The latest androids have a box that should be unticked to avoid connecting to 2G networks by default. Thank you! This begs the question; what can you do to prevent it? Android users can go into their settings, select Mobile Networks, and simply uncheck ‘Allow 2G Service’.
