#Adventure #Wilderness #bushcraft Why I Can't Stop Going Back to the Wild From ice-out in April to deep winter in the frozen north — this might be the most action-packed year I've had in over twenty years of serious adventuring. It started with a backcountry spring canoe trip in Algoma, Ontario, fishing for brook trout with my brother through remote Canadian Shield wilderness. From there I headed to the Grand Canyon to run it solo in my own oar-rigged raft — 277 miles of whitewater through some of the most dramatic scenery on earth. Then came 16 days alone in the Northwest Territories, paddling the remote Natla, Keele and Mackenzie Rivers through true Canadian wilderness with no roads, no people and no safety net. Summer brought five weeks at my remote off-grid cabin in the Yukon with the whole family — fishing, foraging and living off the land. From there I headed solo down the wild and remote Wolf River, one of the most beautiful rivers I've ever paddled. Fall meant moose season — first hunting down a remote Yukon river, then packing into the mountains of Newfoundland for a backcountry moose hunt in some of Canada's most rugged terrain. Winter hit hard. A polar vortex dropped temperatures to -40 and I slept in a bush shelter to prove it could be done. Six days of backcountry winter camping by snowmobile with my brother followed, then a 500km family snowmobile expedition linking our rural home to our remote off-grid cabin. The year wrapped in Labrador on a 700km snowmobile journey through one of Canada's last true frontiers, ice fishing for wild brook trout along the way. That Labrador footage has never been seen before — the full film drops this fall. 🌲 ➰ 🎣 #wilderness #bushcraft #adventure #survival #offgrid #canoeing #riverrafting #grandcanyon #yukon #labrador #northwestterritories #newfoundland #moosehunting #fishing #brooktrout #snowmobile #wintersurvival #icefishing #soloexpedition #canadianwilderness #backcountry #overlanding #hunting #wildcamp #explorecanada 🛶 ➰ ⛺️ 🎥 Check out my previous full year compilation videos here: 🏔️ Spring 2024 to Late Winter 2025: https://youtu.be/u-STO1bv1I8?si=0h4HibbB_LE9hHu4 🏕️ Spring 2023 to Late Winter 2024: https://youtu.be/_s2zEclHeeE?si=fdk7PK5vimgpnabH 🛶 Spring 2022 to Late Winter 2023: https://youtu.be/mrItwK7wcEQ?si=PdQ5AmNkhqh6kg6Y 📸 ➰ 🎞️ Follow me on social media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jbadventurer/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jbadventurer tiktok: https://tiktok.com/@jbadventurer 🛒 ➰ 📖 👉 Check out my Amazon shop here: https://www.amazon.ca/shop/jimbaird-adventurer?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_aipsfshop_0K9WXSPJMJYHKKWCJ9C5 👉 Buy the Complete Written Works of Jim Baird here: https://www.theadventurer.com/product-page/complete-written-works-of-jim-baird-adventurer 0:00 What I did for 365 Days in the Wild & Why 1:45 Backcountry Spring Trout Fishing Trip by Canoe in Ontario's Algoma Country 21:18 Rafting the Grand Canyon 45:48 Alone in the Northwest Territories - Soloing the Natla, Keele & Mackenzie Rivers 1:12:59 Five Weeks at my Water Access, Off-Grid Cabin Cabin with my Family 1:45:52 Alone in the YUKON - Solo Down the Remote Wolf River Fly Fishing for Arctic Grayling 2:21:32 Moose Hunting in the Yukon: Five Days of Moose, Mountains & Northern Light 2:33:06 A Week in the Mountains of Newfoundland on a Helicopter Fly-in Moose Hunt 2:48:37 Fall Adventures - ATVing to my Off-Grid Cabin & Wall Tent Freighter Canoe Deer Hunt 2:49:51 Sleeping in a Survival Snow Cave with my 4-Year-Old Son 2:58:27 Catching 3 Different Species of Trout & Winter Camping in the Haliburton Forest 3:15:00 Stranded: 4 Days Solo Winter Survival with No Tent or Food (Polar Vortex) 3:43:13 6 Days Winter Camping & Ice Fishing by Snowmobile in Northern Ontario 4:17:54 The Whole Family Ski-Dooed 500km From our House to our Remote Off-Grid Cabin 5:02:00 700km Winter Ice Fishing & Snowmobiling Adventure in the Labrador Wilderness
