Vegetable Seeds Give Hope to Refugees | A Giving Machine Story

Through the Giving Machines, people donated vegetables seeds and gardening tools that have helped refugees in Tanzania increase their health and confidence. The Giving Machines, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are vending machines with a twist — instead of buying something for themselves, people can donate a needed item to someone else through a local or international charity. In this case, vegetable seeds and gardening tools donated to the Nyarugusu Refugee Camp in Tanzania helped create a sustainable farming project that allowed refugees in difficult circumstances to learn valuable skills, socialize, become more self-sufficient, and have better nutrition. The Giving Machine project is part of Light the World, a worldwide movement that encourages people all over the world to join in sharing their light and the light of Jesus Christ with others during the Christmas season.
