Professor Theodore waited far too long for help. This eight-year-old boy endured days and nights on the streets, unable to walk. Pain radiated from an open wound on his leg, sending jolts of agony through his whole body. Every movement hurt, yet he held on, hoping someone would notice him. By the time help arrived, it was clear his suffering ran deep—but the full story was only just beginning to unfold. When our team was alerted to Theodore’s situation, we knew we couldn’t wait another moment. Coordinating his rescue took more than five exhausting hours and countless obstacles, including finding a safe place for him to land. At last, Theodore was transported to our vet partner, where the reality of what he’d endured became heartbreakingly clear. Vets believe Theodore was hit by a car. The impact dragged him along the ground, leaving behind road-rash-like wounds and knocked-out front teeth. A swelling, open wound concealed a dislocated ankle, which explained why he couldn’t walk. Theodore was immediately hospitalized for treatment. Vets administered pain medication and antibiotics right away, but we’re still uncertain whether or not his injured leg can be saved. Despite his pain, Theodore is thriving in foster care. He’s eating well, resting on soft blankets, and even moving around on three legs. Our team is fighting tooth and nail for this sweetheart’s recovery, but caring for Theodore is costly. He requires frequent vet visits, regular bandage changes, and specialized medical care.
