He wrote much more besides, but these are his most consciously scientific. These book are exemplars of a blending of science and theology, in an attempt to unpack Biblical meanings - it's similar to Immanuel Velikovsky's Worlds In Collision published some 70 years later in 1950. Exemplars of speculative thinking, not scientific orthodoxy. They were not regarded seriously by the scientists. In the same way Velikovsky suffered the same fate as Butler.
