Description

21 slightly different forms. I’m smitten by these bowls, despite only firing one successfully so far. There’s something about miniature versions of vessels you make, like sculpturally large ones too I suppose, that makes them somewhat of a novelty, a curio, and all I want to do at the moment is make these vessels with abnormally tall feet. Their intricate design makes them slow vessels to trim. I sometimes wish the pots I made only had a small portion on the foot turned, I miss those days to some degree, yet this exacting, careful work, trimming bowls that are on the brink of being crushed, is rather meditative work. I use that term loosely, as yes, I’m highly focused and aware of what’s going on beneath me, yet at the same time, time itself passes rapidly when I’m so engaged. There will be about 30 of these cups, including the 21 here, going into my next reduction firing, slotted into normally unused spaces in-between pots, they’re worthy kiln fillers, pocket trinket bowls or tumblers or simply, and mostly likely, objects to display and look at. #bowl #pottery #miniaturepottery #ceramics #satisfying #handmade
