Big Changes Some Might Not Love! // || 2026 Mazda CX 5 Review

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover/SUV. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD. A hybrid powertrain is coming for 2027. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 resembles the CX-70 and CX-90 with a more chiseled look, a wider stance and angular lighting elements. But it’s not a huge departure from the outgoing model, it still looks like a CX-5 just more modern. The CX-5 is now over half an inch wider and 4.5” longer in both overall length and wheelbase. It has up to 8.2” of ground clearance and comes standard with LED headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, body-coloured door handles, 17” wheels, available 19” wheels, a tire pressure monitoring system and a temporary spare tire. The 2026 Mazda CX-5 interior is a huge departure from the previous model with updated technology and larger screens. Gone are the buttons and the dial at the centre console to control the screen, most functions are done in the screen now. You have the choice of a standard 12.9” touchscreen or an available 15.6” touchscreen. The cabin design is still elegant and sophisticated with a mix of beautiful materials and trim pieces. Many complained about how small the outgoing model was and didn’t offer quite enough space for a growing family. Mazda has created a larger 2026 Mazda CX-5 offering increased leg, knee and headroom in the rear. The cargo area is also bigger, it’s almost 2” longer, over an inch higher and has a lower lift-in height. In Canada, the 2026 Mazda CX-5 CX-5 GX starts at $36,300, GS $39.200, GT $42,200, GT Premium Pack $46,700.
