B-1 bombers with special scheme touch and go at RAF Fairford in England

Two B-1 bombers launch from RAF Fairford on a short flight after a period of downtime during ceasefire talks in the Middle East; one donning a Doolittle Raiders 80th Anniversary scheme. The aircraft take a moment to perform a touch-and-go each before returning back to base. There are currently 23 strategic bombers deployed from the United States to England on Operation Epic Fury. The B-1 with the registration '85-0060' wears a special livery to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. On the tail is a B-25B Mitchell. Sixteen B-25s launched from the USS Hornet for the raid on Tokyo and surrounding Honshu in 1942. It is owned by the UK government but leased to the US military for their operations. Permission was given for the base to be used by a forward deployment of bombers on Operation Epic Fury in the Middle East. The Rockwell B-1B Lancers ('BONE') featured are operated by the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base (AFB) in South Dakota. We can also see bombers from the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess AFB in Texas, B-52 Stratofortress ('BUFF') bombers from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, and also the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. The U-2 Dragon Lady featured is operated by the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale AFB, California, with a permanent detachment of the 99th Reconnaissance Squadron at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, UK.
