Strike Force Benson was established in August 2025 by State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad, targeting ongoing criminal activity connected to the Hells Angels club. During the course of that investigation, detectives began to focus on Moffitt after receiving information about his claims of military service. To verify the allegations, police worked closely with the Australian Defence Force. Those checks confirmed that no record of Shaun Moffitt ever serving in any capacity with the ADF. On 21 April 2026, at about 3.40pm, Raptor Squad officers moved in and arrested Moffitt in Peelwood. He was taken to Goulburn Police Station, where he was formally charged with falsely representing himself as a military personel an offence treated seriously due to the respect and recognition given to military service. Moffitt was later granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Goulburn Local Court, where the allegations will be tested.
