Description
May 13, 2026
After I got a couple of Amtrak trains in Dixon and before I went to Napa for the Wine Train which was my main chase of the day, I came here to check on construction progress of the Green Island Rd widening and bike trail project as it was predicted to be near completion by late April/May 2026 only to see that barely any work was done the whole roadway since Summer 2025 when construction resumes. Anyways, I had to get this crossing again due to having a heads up months ago that the Siemens E-Bell was no longer here due to dying this past winter in the fog saga we had.
I was originally waiting for the CFNR American Canyon job to come work back here as they would run to Biagi Bros. They usually are here by 8 or 9 and they weren't so I was contemplating leaving for Napa. Glad I didn't as next thing I know, I overheard an unusual sequence on my radio scanner and didn't catch what and it ended up being the NWP talking to the Brazos Bridge Operator and minutes later, I looked and saw them coming from the West.
This was my first time catching the NWP as usual, they run out this way in the evening and other locations like to SMART at night and I don't know their schedule for the Schellville daytime moves they do. I would say this was a rare morning move to the American Canyon but I don't know if this was a post scheduled change and they run this way at this time on Wednesday now or not.
Northwestern Pacific Railroad Schellville job local Shortline freight train passes through the Green Island Road railroad crossing on the CFNR Brazos Sub in American Canyon, California.
