Baraka is the founder of the Black Alliance for Peace (BAP) and currently serves as the director of BAP’s North-South Project for People(s)-Centered Human Rights. Recently Baraka co-founded the International Coalition to Stop Genocide in Gaza to support the South African case filed with the International Court of Justice. In 2016 Baraka was a candidate for Vice President of the United States on the Green Party ticket. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the U.S. Peace Council and the leadership body of the United National Anti-War Coalition (UNAC). He is an editor and contributing columnist for the Black Agenda Report and the recipient of the Serena Shirm award for uncompromised integrity in journalism.
