Piston Symphony — 13 WWII Warbirds Roar in Formation

In March 2026, during Warbirds Over Scone 2026 at Scone Memorial Airport (NSO/YSCO), NSW, Australia, thirteen WWII warbirds assembled for a memorable formation display. The lineup featured a Lockheed Hudson, Grumman TBF Avenger, Vought F4U Corsair, two Supermarine Spitfires, four North American Mustangs, and four Curtiss P-40 Warhawks. This video captures the full sequence—from engine start and taxi, through takeoff and formation flying, to landing and taxi back to the apron. A highlight of the display is the unmistakable sound of piston engines, both in formation and from individual aircraft, creating a rich and powerful “piston symphony” in the sky.
