The International Symposium on Anarchist and Libertarian Principles of Education is an initiative organised by the University of Burgos (Spain) in collaboration with A.S. Neill Summerhill CIC (UK) with regard to their commitment to democratic, emancipatory and non-coercive educational practices.
This symposium aims to create an open space for dialogue, reflection and exchange around educational principles such as:
Freedom with responsibility
Mutual aid and cooperation
Equity
Self-governance
Critical consciousness,
as well as pedagogical approaches connected to experiential learning, creativity, participation and non-coercive guidance.

Current Challenges in Education: What Can Anarchist and Libertarian Principles Offer Today?
This first edition was held online on 7 May 2026 and was dedicated to the memory of Antonio Benaiges, Freinetist teacher murdered at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, on the 90th anniversary of his death.
