Hospice caretaker steals over $55,000 from elderly Hanford man, police say

A South Valley woman, hired to care for a grieving widow, is accused of betraying his trust. 36-year-old Irais Angel is charged with forgery and elder abuse involving an 81-year-old man after helping take care of his sick wife. Police say the years-long investigation involved bank security footage and records. The man only identified as "Johnnie" is a decorated military veteran and still mourning the loss of his wife. His credit union's policy does not allow the return of the stolen money. Police are worried there may be other victims. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Hanford Police.
