Trump’s Great American State Fair is supposed to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, but states are backing out, musicians are bailing, and the whole thing is starting to look like a MAGA Fyre Festival on the National Mall. Freedom 250 promised all fifty states would be represented, even as several states refused to participate and others still have no idea who the administration may pick to speak for them. Trump turned an easy national celebration into another ego-driven loyalty test, complete with a fake triumphal arch, a shrinking lineup, and a rally he now wants to headline himself.
