Únicas Hackathon success, with 6 patients diagnosed

💻After 48 hours of intense work, and more than 100 volunteer medical professionals, the first Ibero-American Hackathon for undiagnosed diseases was a success, managing to diagnose 6 of the 12 cases being studied. 🙌 A total of 140 people from 62 institutions and 14 different countries came together with a common goal—to diagnose patients who had gone years without a diagnosis. 🎯The result? Half of the chosen cases were diagnosed, and others could be on the horizon in the coming weeks. 🧬This groundbreaking initiative used the latest diagnostic technology and involved a vast array of professional profiles —medical specialists, geneticists, case managers, bioengineers or AI and data management specialists— to find clues and answers to particularly complex cases. 👩‍👦Two of the patients’ families were in attendance at the event, and the others were informed of their child's results after the event concluded.
