BRIDLINGTON | Full tour of seaside town Bridlington from South Beach to Town and Harbour Bridlington is a classic East Yorkshire coastal resort that balances the energy of a working port with the nostalgia of a traditional British seaside getaway. The town is physically and atmospherically split by its historic pre-Roman harbour, which remains a focal point of the local economy. Known as the Lobster Capital of Europe, the harbour sees over 300 tonnes of shellfish landed annually, while offering visitors the chance to take boat trips into the bay or board the famous Yorkshire Belle for a cruise beneath the towering chalk cliffs of the nearby coastline. Away from the modern seafront, the Bridlington Old Town offers a quiet, historic contrast with its narrow streets and Georgian architecture. Centered around the grand Bridlington Priory, which was founded in 1113, this area feels more like a hidden village than a coastal resort. The High Street is lined with independent shops, antique dealers, and traditional pubs, and it famously served as the filming location for the 2016 Dad’s Army movie. Together, these different districts create a town that honors its medieval roots while maintaining its status as a quintessential destination for the modern holidaymaker.
