A lovely day out in Broadstairs where I witnessed something I've only ever seen in wildlife documentaries. Under a park bench; Dunnock cloaca pecking: ( This is a unique courtship ritual where the male pecks the female’s vent (cloaca) to stimulate her to eject sperm from previous matings with rival males. This sperm competition behavior ensures the male can boost his chances of paternity before they copulate, a common practice in their complex social, often polyandrous, mating system ). 🎥💚👍#broadstairs #spring #wildlife
