Instead, up at around 10,000 feet, the lens caught orange and black stripes… a Bengal tiger, far above where textbooks say tigers belong. For cat lovers, that sounds magical, but it carries a warning. As forests are cleared, roads carved, and the climate heats up, tigers are being pushed higher, into the realm of snow leopards who are already running out of room. These camera-trap photos aren’t the start of something new; they are proof of changes that have been building for years. The great cats are adapting as fast as they can. The real question is whether we will. By protecting connected wild corridors from lowland forests to alpine cliffs, we can give tigers and snow leopards the space they need to survive, without being forced into conflict with each other or with people.
