Description

After servicing this flagship 1983-85 handheld, made for Tandy by GRE (Japan), it was time to test it. Note that these are 3.5W radios regardless of what the box says & that they are 12V maximum....direct connection to 13.8V in a running car will kill the set. Recorded 5th May 2026 Mr Chippie drove along our usual 6-mile test route, the 'wrong side' of a hill. He stopped at the five mile point for a low power static test. The radio was set for 3.5W on full power & 0.26W (260mW) on low power. The built-in mike was used throughout. A microphone wired for Realistic can be plugged into these sets. Our continued thanks to Thunderpole for kindly supplying the T3000 radio (and new mike) which is fitted to the test vehicle at no cost to us. This is the sole reason for the 'paid promotion' marker on this video. Richard, G0OJF Richard, 2E0FKC (Mr. Chippie) Lincolnshire, UK [email protected] Ebay stuff https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/g0ojf
