🌪️ SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK – WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 2026 (11:13Z Update) SPC Risk Level: ENHANCED (Level 3 of 5) Valid through April 1, 2026 7:00 PM CDT Wednesday 📍 Major Cities in Risk Zones 🟠 ENHANCED Risk: Amarillo, TX, Wichita Falls, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Wichita, KS 🟡 SLIGHT Risk: Columbus, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Harrisburg, PA, Baltimore, MD 🌪️ Tornado Risk Zones 🟡 10% Tornado Risk (supercells with a few tornadoes possible): Oklahoma City, OK, Wichita, KS, Amarillo, TX [No other tornado zones present] What the Percentages Mean A 10% tornado risk means there is a 1 in 10 chance of a tornado within 25 miles of a point. Supercell thunderstorms capable of producing a few tornadoes, very large hail, and damaging wind gusts are expected primarily across northwest Texas, western and central Oklahoma, and south-central Kansas. 📝 Overview A potent shortwave trough moving across northern Arizona will approach the surface dryline over west Texas late this afternoon and evening, triggering rapid and widespread thunderstorm development from the eastern Texas Panhandle into western Oklahoma. This activity will build eastward through the evening, with risks of very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes. A weak boundary extending from southwest Oklahoma into southeast Kansas will lift northward, promoting moistening and destabilization. This will support the development of a few evening supercells near north-central Oklahoma into southeast Kansas, with very large hail and a few tornadoes possible. In the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic, a well-defined surface boundary from southern Ohio into southern Pennsylvania will serve as a focus for thunderstorm development this afternoon and early evening. Clusters of storms over northeast Kentucky and southern Ohio will track eastward, posing damaging wind gust risks. Isolated strong storms are also possible from southeast Pennsylvania into Maryland and Virginia with similar gusty wind threats. ⛈️ Hazards Include 🧊 Very large hail (possible with supercells in the southern and central Plains) 🌪️ A few tornadoes (mainly in the southern and central Plains) 💨 Damaging wind gusts (widespread in Plains and Ohio Valley storms) 🕓 Timeline 3 PM–7 PM CDT: Thunderstorm initiation along dryline in west TX Panhandle and western OK, rapid intensification 7 PM–10 PM CDT: Peak threat for supercells with large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes across central OK and south-central KS 3 PM–8 PM CDT: Thunderstorm development and clusters in Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic with damaging wind gusts 8 PM–12 AM CDT: Storms gradually weaken and move eastward into Mid-Atlantic overnight 📌 Regional Notes 🟠 Southern and Central Plains → Northwest TX, Western/Central OK, South-Central KS: Enhanced risk for supercells with large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes 🟡 Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic → Southern OH, Southern PA, MD, VA: Slight risk for damaging wind gusts in clusters and isolated storms ⚠️ Stay Weather-Aware Residents in northwest Texas, western and central Oklahoma, and south-central Kansas should remain alert for rapidly developing severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Conditions favor supercells capable of producing very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes. Close monitoring of forecasts and warnings is advised. #SevereWeather #SPC #TX #OK #KS #OH #PA #MD #VA #TornadoRisk #Hail #DamagingWinds Keywords: Amarillo, TX, Wichita Falls, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Wichita, KS, Columbus, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Harrisburg, PA, Baltimore, MD ——————————— In-Vehicle Driver, Man-of-Action - @ReedTimmerWx Navigator, Man-of-Music - @localmanweatherofficial Engineer, Man-of-Iron - @willclay25 Studio Guy in the corner - @brianvotoole, but he doesn't really post anything. he's just laying in the cut, you know?
