North Port Police crackdown on E-Bikes

We’ve seen a crackdown on dangerous E-bike riding across the area. Now, the city of North Port is stepping up their enforcement. Recent body cam video shows the moments leading up to the arrest of a juvenile operating an illegal e-bike. An officer tried to stop a rider going more than 30 miles an hour, while doing a wheelie on the sidewalk. But when the officer initiated the stop, the rider took off. Police say that the same juvenile and his parents were warned a month prior that the bike was illegal to operate. So, this time, he was arrested. However, police say the goal isn’t to arrest anyone or hand out tickets. It's to educate riders about the rules and dangers.
