From Yalta to the Berlin blockade, it shows how countries liberated from Nazism were gradually drawn into the Soviet sphere. The film also explores the spread of Marxism-Leninism, propaganda, surveillance and fear in everyday life. In Hungary, Poland and East Germany, political parties, elections and institutions were brought under communist control.
