Description
“Now is not the time to cry – it might be later. Now it’s the time to work and to help,” said Israel Riva, a volunteer helping international teams in their search for survivors, one week after two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela. Nearly 2,000 people were killed and more than 10,000 injured, with many more still missing.

On a seafront in La Guaira state, which was heavily affected, buildings have collapsed and rescuers are doing everything they can to find survivors, using specialist hearing equipment to detect those who may still be alive under the rubble.
As of Thursday morning, no one has been found alive in the La Gabarra building but rescue efforts continue.
