Autódromo de Hockenheim na Alemanha, era conhecido como "Floresta Negra" por ter grande parte de seu traçado dentro da floresta com 6.823 metros. Teve fatos interessantes e épicos na F1, uns dos primeiros que quero citar no post é o trágico acidente de Patrick Depailler com sua Alfa Romeo nos treinos privados em 1980 na curva Ost-kurve após isso foi criada uma chincane para diminuir a velocidade da curva, aonde teve o acidente de Nelson Piquet e Eliseo Salazar na corrida de 1982 que resultou uma cena de "UFC" entre os dois. Mas antes nos treinos de 1982 teve um acidente grave com Diddier Pironi com sua Ferrari que colidiu na traseira de Alain Prost na freiada no final do retão na entrada do "Estádio", encerrando sua carreira como piloto de F1. Em 1991 antes do Grande Prêmio da Alemanha, Ayrton Senna num treino privado das equipes teve o acidente mais grave de sua carreira mas como era treino privado não temos imagens, mas Ayrton perdeu o controle de seu McLaren MP4/6 na freiada da Jim Clark - Kurve e saiu capotando varias vezes pelo circuito e foi parar no hospital.
