First Lady of the US chairs UN Security Council

Against the backdrop of US-Israeli air strikes against Iran, and widening instability in the Middle East, the Security Council hears a briefing on ‘Children, technology, and education in conflict’. The meeting is chaired by Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States, which holds the Council’s presidency for March. While First Ladies have previously addressed Council meetings, this marks the first occasion on which a First Lady chairs the body.
