Description
This is antique Iron which was found by me on local village scrap metal yard. This Iron is very rusty and needs full restoration. In this video you will see the whole process how it was restored how to use it, as well directly Ironing clothes.
It is a vintage Iron which was common in the 18 -19 century, it is made of hard Cast Iron alloy and is really difficult to process. At first, all the moving parts need to be sprayed, It was so rusty that steel parts literally stuck to each other, the Locking Lever mechanism jammed tightly, all Pins was deadly rusty and no lubricant or spray was not able to handle it so had to drill them out, however, the handle was surprisingly present but cracked. Rare thing like that must look authentic so I decided to restore and make it look exactly as it once was. And that was not easy to make and took me too much time. All the work done by Hands metal brushes and files, while using the power tool only to grind the area and places difficult to access. All the pins need to be replaced by making new ones. Installation grooves for new handle was made by my Rotary grinder and for best look polished and soaked in linseed oil.
For me, this restoration was unusual because it is my part of the history, I am very pleased with the result.
