Danny Rohl meets James Tavernier drama head on as Rangers boss pulls no punches

Danny Rohl insists he was thinking of Rangers’ best interests when he chose to bomb James Tavernier from his team ahead of the departing skipper’s Ibrox farewell. Tavernier was left incensed after learning he would not start Wednesday night’s final home game of the season against Hibs. A planned pre-match tribute to the 34-year-old’s 11-year Gers career was almost cancelled when the simmering defender stormed off having learned he would be named on the bench. He was persuaded to return to Ibrox by club legend John Greig and was honoured in front of the Light Blues legions.
