Unusually warm and dry March sees Folsom Lake rise, not fall

As raindrops fell at Folsom Lake for the first time in over a month, an unusual picture was on display. The water level of the lake was higher than normal, even as March saw record warm temperatures and a prolonged dry stretch. That warm, dry stretch led to considerable Sierra snowmelt, which has fed into the lake, raising the lake's level 26 feet since February 19, according to the California Data Exchange Center.
