Description

I'll never get tired of the M3 E30s. The car was developed by BMW Motorsport as a homologation model according to Group A rules, specifically to be raced in domestic and European touring car championships. The car proved dominant in late 80s both by factory and private teams. The E30 you see up here is an original ex-Burkard Bovensiepen's BMW Alpina team which was driven by Peter Oberndorfer during the 1988 DTM Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft season. The car is fitted with the 'Evolution 2' upgrades which were introduced in 1988 in order to keep the M3 competitive. During the 2025 Oldtimer GP at the Nürburgring, my friend Italiansupercarvideo and I managed to put a camera inside the cockpit of this pristine example, manged by the guys of Schnitzer Classic and driven by Moritz Horn in the 2025 Tourenwagen Golden Ära, a series born with the idea to bring DTM, Group A and STW cars from the 1980s and 1990s back to the racetrack. A necessary clarification for those wondering why it doesn't have an inline-6. Alpina is known for developing and selling high-performance, road-legal versions of BMW cars. Among their creations, an interpretation of the M3 E30 exists and it's called the B6 3.5 S. The main feature of this rare machine (only 62 examples ever built) is being powered by a 3.5-liter, BMW M30 straight-6 engine instead of the classic 4-cylinder. The car you see in this video isn't an Alpina B6 3.5 S but a BMW M3 E30 Group A which was used by Team Alpina in those years as it was impossible to homologate an Alpina B6 for Group A since regulations required many more units to be produced (in addition to further intensive development). Despite this, the Team Alpina's E30s feature some details that make them true Alpinas: blue Alcantara with green stitching covering both the interior door panels and the ceiling, as well as the shift boot cover, Alpina logos here and there and the unique Alpina rims by Ronal. So listen to the iconic sound of the 2.3-liter, naturally-aspirated BMW S14B23 engine in action! #BMWM3E30 #AlpinaM3E30 #SchnitzerClassic ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have to thank my friend and youtuber @Italiansupercarvideo for the great collaboration done.
