King and Queen Greet German President on State Visit

The German president and first lady have arrived in the UK at the start of the first state visit from a German head of state for 27 years. READ MORE: https://www.thetimes.com/uk/royal-family/article/german-state-visit-today-3jk2cxx9r After being greeted at Heathrow by the Prince and Princess of Wales, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, the former judge Elke Büdenbender, will begin a three-day itinerary which include a visit to the ruins of Coventry Cathedral, which was destroyed by the Luftwaffe during the Blitz in 1940. Unlike President Trump, who had a state carriage procession within the private confines of the Windsor estate, the German guests will return to the traditional welcome of a carriage ride through the streets as they arrive at Windsor Castle with the King and Queen.
