Description
Dr Esther Apuahe is the country’s first female neurosurgeon, and one of only three neurosurgeons in Papua New Guinea. Esther works at Port Moresby General, which, despite being the country’s biggest hospital, still can’t perform some basic medical procedures.
Health Minister Elias Kapavore said that PNG is "building the system".
"There's a lot of weaknesses out there, but so long as we have a clear policy direction on what must happen for health, I'm very positive that we continue to see some improvement in the next coming years."
