Description
Bad start. The ceiling cracked open with a loud snap… and the bees were NOT happy. In the chaos, I copped a few stings and had that split-second thought of, “This could get ugly fast.”

But once everything had settled, and I slowed things right down, the change was incredible. The bees calmed. The flight settled. And honestly, they turned out to be pretty friendly in the end.

Here’s the thing, most people don’t realise: bees aren’t naturally aggressive. They’re defensive. When they feel squeezed, crushed, or alarmed, that’s when a sting happens. A little smoke can help mask their alarm pheromone so the rest of the colony doesn’t join in… and yes, I should have had my smoker closer for this one. Live and learn.
🐝
Handled gently and with respect, bees usually stay calm — even when the ceiling comes down around them.

PS. We don't have Killer Bees in Australia
