Like & subscribe for more kids’ sewing ideas! 🌼 ⸻ Materials (short) • Lightweight cotton or lawn (main) — ~1.2–1.6 m • Small fabric for pocket flaps & applique, matching thread • 20–25 cm zipper or small buttons (back), interfacing (small), elastic (optional for pocket casing), pins, scissors, measuring tape ⸻ Cutting — pieces to cut (add 1 cm seam allowance) • Front bodice — 1 on fold (or 2 halves) • Back bodice — 1 on fold (or 2 halves for back opening) • Upper skirt (tier 1) — rectangle (width ≈ 1.5× bodice bottom) • Lower skirt (tier 2) — wider rectangle (width ≈ 2.5–3× upper tier for fullness) • Pocket flaps — 2 (mirror) + small pocket bags if making functional pockets • Shoulder straps/armhole facings or neck facing strips ⸻ Stitching — step-by-step (short & camera-ready) 1. Bodice: Sew shoulder seams (right sides together). Finish neckline with facing or bias; press. 2. Armholes & side seams: Finish armholes with narrow facing or binding, then stitch side seams of bodice. 4. Make upper tier: Hem bottom edge of upper tier if desired. Gather top edge of upper tier to match bodice bottom; pin and stitch to join. Finish seam allowance and press. 5. Make lower tier: Hem lower tier. Run basting stitches along top edge and gather to match lower edge of upper tier; pin and stitch to join. Finish seams. 6. Back opening: Insert small zipper at center back or make button placket for easy dressing; finish facings. 7. Final hems & finish: Even hem the dress, trim threads, topstitch visible seams for a polished look, press entire garment.
