From FC Bayern Munich to Borussia Dortmund with our eTGX

How far can you get with a MAN eTGX? “With one charge - as far as Dortmund!” That's what we said this summer, when FC Bayern football players Konrad Laimer, Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich presented the truck charging park at the Allianz Arena, which MAN Truck & Bus is planning together with FC Bayern München. On a day late November, MAN proved that this actually works out. Start in the dark at 5.30 a.m. in Munich, with almost 650 kilometres ahead in wintry temperatures and at times strong winds. A total train weight of 32 tons, with a load of drinks on board for FC Bayern fans from the west of Germany. And it worked - easily. Start of the eTruck with 90 % state of charge of the total capacity of 534 kWh with six battery packs. Stopover at the charging park in Steinsfeld after three hours - charging with 300 kilowatts for 45 minutes. Arrival in Dortmund after 12 hours with a remaining range of 90 kilometres. Over the entire route, the consumption was 1.0 kilowatt hours per kilometer - a top figure given the difficult cold conditions making it a necessity to turn on lights, windshield wipers, heating, air conditioning and seat heating. To comfort the long stretches of the route, making the journey safe and comfortable, the radio ran all the time as well. No problem for our power packs produced in Nuremberg. That they can even do better in other conditions was proved in a test with the German Fernfahrer Magazin. During this test carried out in summer 2024 on another route the consumption was 0,83 kwh/km. Top of its class! The journey to Dortmund was an enormous success, not least because FC Bayern Legend Stefan Effenberg was able to take over the drinks for the assembled members of the FC Bayern München Fan Club Association North Rhine-Westphalia in Dortmund.
