What it's like Christmas Eve in a Mexican beach town! #livinginmexico

🌎 Welcome to our channel! We’re Jennifer & Darryle two Canadians (plus our 15-year-old Maltese!) who moved to Mexico in 2021 and have been traveling the country ever since. In today’s Puerto Morelos travel vlog, I take you along on a relaxing Christmas Eve walk from our home to the beach in this charming seaside town on Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Heading out before lunch with just our GoPro and drone, I capture what Puerto Morelos looks like the day before Christmas—quiet, breezy, and full of laid-back Caribbean vibes. I was feeling a bit run-down from a recent camping trip with very little sleep and a quick trip to Cozumel, where a cruise ship had docked near the beach club, so excuse the runny nose. Still, nothing was going to stop us from enjoying this windy, cloudy Christmas Eve in paradise. Shortly after leaving the house, I get caught in a brief tropical rain shower, which doesn’t last long and only adds to the authentic Caribbean experience. We walk through the colonial side of Puerto Morelos, making our way toward the port side to catch views of the stunning Caribbean Sea. We pass under the highway using the pedestrian walking path to the beach, where the long stretch of road provides welcome shade as the sun peeks through the clouds. I was hoping to spot some wildlife in the Puerto Morelos mangroves, but unfortunately, there wasn’t a clear access point. Once we reach the port side of Puerto Morelos, the strength of the wind really becomes noticeable. We stop by the town square, and surprisingly, it’s very quiet for Christmas Eve. However, when we reach the beach, there are more people out enjoying the Caribbean lifestyle, soaking up the fresh air and ocean views. We stroll along the beach for a bit before heading back toward downtown Puerto Morelos, where we see families enjoying the cooler temperatures and kids playing in the park. As we make our way home, we’re treated to a fun and unexpected sight—Santa Claus riding in the back of a pickup truck, with his helpers handing out gifts to locals.
