INGREDIENTS
1 Cup Warm Milk (240 ml)
150 gm Seedless Dates
1 Cup Sorghum Flour/Jowar ka Atta (120g)
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (10g)
1 Tsp Baking Powder (5g)
1/4 Tsp Baking Soda (1g)
2 Pinch Salt (1g)
1/4 Cup Yogurt/Dahi (60 ml)
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Essence (2.5 ml)
1/4 Cup Oil/Ghee (60 ml)
1/4 Cup Milk (60 ml)
METHOD
1. Soak dates in 1 cup warm milk for 30 minutes and then grind to a fine paste.
2. Mix jowar/sorghum flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, soda and salt until well combined.
3. Transfer the dates mixture to a bowl, add yogurt, oil and mix well. Add flour mixture and 1/4 cup more milk and mix well until there are no lumps.
4. Place a tawa on gas stove or induction and a nonstick appe pan on it. Place the lid and preheat at low-medium heat for 5 minutes.
5. Pour the batter into the appe pan pits. Cover with a lid and cook at low- medium flame for 7-10 minutes or until the cake is cooked.
6. Remove cakes from the appe pan. Serve them warm or let them cool down and enjoy!
