Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man for his alleged involvement in a violent home invasion and shooting last year.
About 12.45am on Tuesday 11 June 2024, emergency services responded to reports of a man being shot in a house on Mary Wade Place at Carnes Hill.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 25-year-old man for a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command were informed that seven men wearing face coverings allegedly forced entry into the premises.
The men were allegedly armed with a semi-automatic pistol, a shotgun, knives, a sledgehammer, baseball bat and jerrycan of petrol.
A 25-year-old male resident of the home confronted the group before he was shot.
Two other residents inside the home were not injured.
Petrol was then poured on the front door and it was set alight before the men left the location in two separate vehicles.
During the incident, shotgun damage was sustained to a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home.
A crime scene has been established by local police, before the matter was referred to State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Valerie.
Five men have previously been charged with their involvement in the incident and remain before the courts.
Following further extensive inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 November 2025), strike force detectives arrested a 25-year-old man at Sydney Airport.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with multiple offences, including firing a weapon in a manner likely to cause injury or damage, using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, arson, property damage, theft of property valued between $2000 and $5000, aggravated break and enter while armed, and knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group.
The man was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Local Court.
