Uma Musume's Most Elegant Horse Came From the Most Chaotic Mother

Silence Suzuka has a secret skill in Uma Musume called Early Start, referencing her real gate incident at the 1997 Yayoi Sho where she tried to duck under the still-closed gate and missed the start by ten lengths. But while looking into gate incidents in horse racing, I found out that Sodashi's mother Buchiko had the same reputation — taken to a completely different level. Buchiko was a spotted white mare so notorious for breaking gates and fences during her active career that the Japanese community nicknamed her for it, joking she would hit anything in her path. In one incident, she reportedly threw her jockey, slipped under the gate, suffered an injury, and caused approximately ¥930 million in bets to be refunded.
