The murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of America’s largest private health insurance company, revealed the level of simmering anger at US Health Insurance companies. The suspected killer, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione – a recent graduate of one of the country’s most prestigious universities – soon became a hero in the eyes of many Americans. He has been held up as a symbol of the fight for a more equal health system. Since the assassination, regular protests have been held across the country denouncing a medical system that many consider to be “the most expensive and least equal in the world”. Luigi Mangione’s trial has both captivated and divided the nation. In this documentary, we investigate a killer who, for some, has become a kind of modern-day Robin Hood.
