The Delhi–Meerut RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System), branded as Namo Bharat, is India’s first high-speed regional rail service designed for daily commuters. It connects Delhi with Meerut and nearby NCR cities through a fast, modern train network. The corridor is about 82 km long and drastically reduces travel time between Delhi and Meerut to under an hour, compared to the usual 2–3 hours by road. The trains are built for high speed, operating at up to around 160 km/h, which makes this one of the fastest regional rail services in the country. Namo Bharat trains are fully air-conditioned and designed for comfort and safety. They have wide doors, spacious seating, CCTV surveillance, dedicated luggage space, and both standard and premium coaches. Ticketing is digital-friendly, with QR-based tickets and smart card options. The project aims to ease road congestion, reduce pollution, and improve daily commuting for people living in satellite cities around Delhi. It is also planned as a model for similar RRTS corridors in other parts of the National Capital Region in the future.
